Since this is a popular topic at our pediatric dental office, we spoke with our Kids Teeth team members and patients to create some guidelines to help your family decide how much the tooth fairy should leave. Here’s what we came up with:

• Average Amount: Many families give between $1 to $5 per tooth. This range is common and allows for some flexibility based on what feels right for you.
• First Tooth Special: Some families give a little extra, like $5 to $10, for the first lost tooth since it's a significant milestone.
• Consistency: Keeping the amount consistent for each tooth can help manage expectations.
• Consideration of Age and Value: For younger children, smaller amounts may be more appropriate. Older children might appreciate a bit more, especially if they understand the value of money better.
• Budget: Ultimately, the amount should fit comfortably within your budget. The tradition and excitement are what matter most.
