Does diet impact the health of our teeth?
· kidsteethsc

We all know a healthy diet is important for our mind and body but does your diet impact the health of our teeth? Pediatric Dentists, Dr. Will MacDonald and Dr. Mike Myers, say yes diet plays a very important role in your children’s dental health. Here are a few tips they would like to share to keep your child’s smile healthy:
Water, Water, Water - it's not realistic to assume you can brush after every snack or meal so take a moment to have water to help wash down sugary or starchy snacks.- Watch out for sports drinks and juices, be sure to check the sugar content.
- If you can choose, choose dairy - cheese and yogurt contain protein and are full of calcium.
- Lean proteins help strengthen teeth - poultry, fish, milk, eggs.
- Nuts are low in carbs so they lessen the risk of cavities - tooth decay is caused by acid producing bacteria that are activated by carbs.
